Net Profit Amounts to RMB 853 million in the First Three Quarters

(HKEx: 00548; SSE: 600548) ( “Shenzhen Express” or the “Group”) is pleased to announce the third quarterly unaudited results of 2015. The Group recorded net profit of RMB314 million in the third quarter of 2015 and from January to September, 2015, the Group recorded net profit of RMB853 million and earnings per share of RMB0.391.
As the Group recognized Gains on Disposal of Meiguan Assets of approximately RMB1.1 billion in the first half of 2014, leading to the substantial changes in net profit and earnings per share from January to September, 2015. After deduction of the effect, a YOY decrease of 3.9% in net profit from January to September, 2015 was recorded, mainly due to a significant YOY decrease in the profit from entrusted construction management services.
From January to September, 2015, the Group recorded a revenue of RMB2.44 billion, of which toll revenue of RMB2.19 billion was recorded, as the major source of revenue of the Group. Due to the implementation of the toll adjustment of Meiguan Expressway since 1 April 2014, a relatively great YOY decrease in toll revenue was recorded. Qinglian Expressway, Yanpai Expressway and Yanba Expressway were affected by diversion in road network, leading to a certain degree decrease in toll revenue respectively. Benefited from multiple positive impacts such as the organic growth of traffic volume, improvement of road network and maintenance of peripheral road sections, toll revenue of Jihe Expressway continued to achieve a YOY increase. Under the comprehensive influence of factors mentioned above, toll revenue of the Group recorded a YOY decrease of approximately 4.4%. On the other hand, benefited from the outperformance of Shuiguan Expressway and Yangmao Expressway, the investment income of the Group, from January to September, achieved RMB230 million, representing a YOY increase of RMB57 million, recorded a relatively rapid growth.
From January to September, 2015, the Group recorded a cost of services of RMB1.12 billion, representing a YOY decrease of 14.5%, mainly attributable to a YOY decrease in the cost of entrusted construction management services, and a YOY decrease in the depreciation and amortization expenses of the ancillary toll highways as well as the special maintenance expenses. Affected by factors such as a YOY decrease in average borrowing scale and the recognition of interest income in respect of the compensation receivables as agreed in Meiguan Expressway Adjustment Agreement, the financial expenses of the Group in the first three quarters represented a YOY decrease of 21.1%.
The management commented that, the Group will consolidate and strengthen the core business of toll highway and achieve operation objectives set at the beginning of this year. In addition, the Group will actively explore the new pattern of business development and profit growth so as to achieve the sustainable development and reward shareholders.
